A nice well run boutique hotel on the fringes of Cala d’Or. The hotel has a little old fashioned feel to it, but in a positive sense. Very clean, good friendly service and good food. A definite cut above the more down market hotels and bars in Cala d’Or. The pool area is really nice and has both privacy and a nice pool side bar. The hotels biggest draw back is the lack of an evening bar, with the small cocktail bar in the lounge having the feel of a retirement home. There was no entertainment in the hotel in September, but the booming karaoke from nearby hotels was loud enough. Having said all that it’s a good well run hotel for couples and families.

Amazing attentive staff firstly. Clean and tranquil setting. Felt relaxed as soon as we arrived there. We stayed half board and the adults really enjoyed it. Limited options, but most of it was really lovely. Would definitely not recommend half board for children or fussy eaters though. Not that type of food. Breakfast was lovely for adults and children. There is something for everyone to enjoy. This isn’t your usual hotel restaurant food, it’s much more up market refined, small portions and for dinner, some meals felt incomplete, either missing potato or veg. For example one “main” meal option was roasted veg. See pic. One main meal was just a plate of beef with some sliced carrots. Not for everyone with limited pallets and big appetites. It suited us though. I don’t eat meat so struggled a little as only three options each dinner for each course. So be aware if you are looking to book half board. Pool was lovely, but the way it’s set out most of the beds are in the shade most of the time, which is a shame and not good if you like to sit in the sun. Massages were amazing. The rooms are big and clean, however they could do with some improvement. Two adults and two teenagers booked a family suite and you got a double bed and a sofa bed. The sofa bed was appalling. I had to ask for a mattress topper as you could feel the metal bars underneath then with the topper it sloped down so you felt like you were falling off the bed. See photo . Not what you expect for a five star hotel when you book a family suite for four near adults. Tough to sleep on that for a week! That needs to be sorted . Aside from that and being extremely tight with replenishing the coffees teas and sugars in the rooms the rest was really lovely and enjoyed our stay. A phone call to reception and they would come pretty quick to give you more, but I think that should be done without asking. Credit to all the staff that made our stay extra special. Recommended but would not recommend half board for families with children and be careful when you book a family room as the sofa bed is not fit for purpose . If you want a relaxed environment in a good location with great staff is a lovely place to stay. I would go back but self catering and ensure we had proper beds each.

Beautiful quiet comfortable hotel, recommended highly for anyone wanting to relax and recharge. Rooms are large and quiet, terraces and balcony have good furniture. Easy walk to eat out or go to the beach, however I would recommend a car to see the island and not just stay around the tourist resorts.

The hotel rooms are very comfortable and clean, large balcony. The pool area is nice but you have to chase the sun and the pool is cold. The staff work very hard and are a credit to the hotel. The breakfast is plentiful however the tea and coffee where never hot just warm. Dinner was ok, the pasta starters where always very tasty but the main courses lacked flavour and the desserts where very similar, apple pie 1 night, apple and walnut pie another. They huge let down was the lack of a bar area to enjoy a drink before dinner, the wisteria lounge is the place to get a drink. You have to press a bell to get a drink, sometimes someone comes, sometimes they don’t, the area is dark and without any atmosphere, why not leave the pool bar open until 9pm and serve pre dinner drinks in there, so much nicer. Overall, a nice hotel but not 5 star.

This is a great hotel for those looking for a quiet hideaway not too far from the lively Cala d’Or centre. However it is not a hotel I would advise for young families. We visited as a family of four, with a young child and a baby. Despite the small play ground for children and the fantastic service we experienced from the friendly team the food options, quiet nature and size of the hotel do not suit those who need to keep their little ones busy. I would suggest this for older couples looking for a relaxing break. There was no music of any sort by the pool, and a lack of atmosphere. Secluded and small doesn’t have to mean boring! I also agree with other reviewers that while the hotel is kept in a very clean, polished state. The rooms themselves are not what I have experienced at other 5* hotels. We enjoyed our time here but would not return as a family.

We arrived at the hotel on Wednesday and the reception staff, housekeeping, restaurant and pool staff have all been exemplary. Our room is huge with its own kitchen area and lounge area. The bed is huge and comfortable. The decor of the room is more traditional than contemporary but is ok for me. The pool area is excellent with excellent sun beds. Breakfast is also not to be faulted….until today. For two days we ate on the outside terrace but today we were in the small indoor restaurant area. As it’s the weekend I think the hotel pushes the boat out and hires a pianist to bang out foyer classics on a grand piano. It was way too loud for the confined space of the dining area. Worse was to come. Relaxing and snoozing after lunch, my nap was interrupted by some caterwauling soloist on an electric guitar with an amplifier. He was murdering many many classics. As the hotel pool and garden areas are small, there was no place to hide from the cacophony. He managed to clear the pool area quicker than a sudden thunderstorm. Even on our room terrace we couldn’t avoid it. The only way to escape was to go into our room and close the terrace doors. Less than ideal on the sunniest day of our visit so far. I fear these musical interludes are a weekend thing and we will have more of the same tomorrow. I understand that the hotel management are trying to “treat” their weekend guests. I would respectfully suggest that we do not need treats, the hotel is good enough as is.

My wife and I recently stayed here and I cannot recommend it enough. The room was exceĺent, breakfast was plentiful and the pool and gardens were lovely. However, the most impressive feature is the staff, ALL of whom were friendly, courteous and extremely helpful. On our last full day we celebrated our wedding anniversary and casually mentioned the fact to a member of staff at breakfast. To our absolute delight and surprise a bottle of cava was sent to our room with a lovely note from the Guest Experience Manager, Paula. This is truly a fantastic hotel with fabulous staff, if you're going to Cala d'or you must stay here.

We’ve just left and have already booked to go back. The staff at the hotel are excellent, the breakfast is as you as good as you could ever imagine and the rooms are lovely. It’s a quiet oasis in the middle of Cala D’Or with all beaches and restaurants in easy walking distance.

This was my second time staying at the Melia Cala d'Or, having first visited earlier this year in May at the beginning of the season. I don't regularly leave reviews, but my experience on both occasions was so positive that I felt it worth the acknowledgement and recognition. On my first stay after having an unfortunate accident in the town, the entire team went above and beyond to ensure I was looked after and taken care of. So much so, that I decided to return, to have the opportunity to experience the full experience of this gem of a hotel. I can only sum the Melia as the team at the team do - a small oasis of paradise in Cala D'Or. I stayed both times in a Junior suite and really recommend these just for the extra space and comfort - a huge terrace/balcony, living room and kitchenette with all the facilities you could need. The location was absolutely superb, around a 10 minute walk max to the local beaches, there are 5 beautiful coves to choose from and a further 5 minutes you reach the stunning marina which has an array of restaurants and bars. You are also literally a few streets from all the action of Cala d'Or, yet its quiet and away from all the hustle and bustle which really makes all the difference. I found the breakfast to be more than ample, lots of choice and delicious. Everything well managed, including keeping items replenished. The team were always really accommodating, including for any dietaries, even when they were really busy. I tried dinner at the restaurant once and the meal was superb, room service was always a pleasure too. The facilities are great overall, yes it may not be the fanciest hotel I've visited, but what sets this place apart is the charm it oozes and the warm hospitality. Every single member of the team were so welcoming and genuinely nice. The spa and gym facilities are of a great standard. I also enjoyed the pool facilities, having the choice of the outdoor and indoor pools. Furthermore appreciated having the indoor pool/jacuzzi available 24-7, a real treat. If you're looking to catch some rays, the pool outside is not really a suntrap, but they have loungers dotted all around the well manicured grounds and you have the choice of the stunning beaches on the doorstep of the hotel to sunbathe. A big thank you to all the team, I look forward to returning again soon.
